As it seems to be the norm anytime I leave for tour or plan on traveling for any period of time, I didn't get any sleep last night. I laid in bed restless and cuddled with my girlfriend for a little bit but couldn't seem to fall asleep. I don't know if it was my nerves, excitement, stress, or what it was but sleep eluded me last night.
My alarm finally went off at 3:00 A.M. and that was it, it was time to head out. I did one last check this morning and made sure I had everything that I needed. There's some very key travel tips to take note of when you are doing a festival for the summer. Here are the key things you want to make sure you to bring with you:
1. Baby Wipes
2. Lots and lots of fresh clean undies (You don't get a lot of time to do laundry)
3. Baby powder (The days are long and hot, you have to stay cool and dry)
4. Comfortable shoes
Those are my four essentials to surviving life on the road in the summer. 10 years ago when I did my first Warped Tour in 2004, I had no idea what to bring with me. I was just excited to go but brought everything from my house with me. I had never been away from home for an extensive period of time. I also didn't know how to pack properly and now I've mastered the science and have just enough room to load up on free stuff all summer.
Both of my flights this morning were fairly short and I was actually able to sleep on the plane for once. I'm a huge Chicago Blackhawks fan was stoked to find out I had a layover at O'Hare. I left disappointed however, when I couldn't find any new Blackhawks pieces to take home with me. I'll be searching all summer for hockey stuff though and probably post about it a lot.
I'm currently sitting with our guitar tech Tommi at the Indianapolis airport waiting to be picked up. We have about a 4 hour wait until the band gets here and this is easily the most boring, nothing going on awkward, airport I have ever been to. I might try to sneak in another nap before I prepare to knock out our 16 hour (probably 20+) with stop drive to Houston to start tour on Friday. For now though, I think I will jam the new Vanna record and catch up on some work.
If you want to get live updates outside of my daily to semi-daily posts on the blog feel free to follow me on Twitter and Instagram. My username is: Tickleskittens. I hope something interesting happens soon so I have something to write about.

The Evening Before & A Brief About Me
Having had to do a blog for my English Composition class this past semester in college, I decided I would try and blog every day this summer on Warped Tour. While I'm sure most people probably won't care, I will try and give an accurate account of what it is like going back on the road at 30, an expectant dad in the near future, and trying to run a business back home while gone. I'm also going to try and give an inside look to what the band and crew deal with on a day to day basis.
A little about me for those of you reading that don't know me. My name is Casey, I am a 30 year old male from Mission, KS a suburb of Kansas City, Ks. I have had a love for music ever since I could remember and I embarking on what is sure to be my last United States tour with the band For All Those Sleeping from Minnesota.
I started working in the music industry when I was 15 years old. I have worked for a couple of different major record labels, done 7 full US tours with different bands, and I have done two weeks in Canada. I currently own and operate a production company based out of Kansas City, MO called Attack Run! Presents with my friend Ryan. Ryan and I have each been booking on and off for several years and within the last year decided to merge our efforts and become one company. Since this merger both of us have been afforded new opportunities and are quite busy which made it difficult to decide whether or not to tour.
I am expecting my first child this December with my girlfriend Sherleyne (Shar) and will be traveling while she is at home pregnant. I was apprehensive about leaving with this being my first child and didn't want to miss out on anything but my girlfriend insisted I go; as I am not getting any younger and probably won't have many more opportunities to do so in the future.
My flight leaves at 5:00 AM CST. I will be flying into Indianapolis with our guitar tech and my good friend Tommi to pick up our Bandwagon. We will be stuck at the airport for 5 or 6 hours with nothing to do so I will try and blog a little bit about our time spent at the airport. My iPod just finished updating with some new music to entertain me with tomorrow (I somehow managed to erase everything off of it earlier.) And I just realized what time it was so I should probably go to bed. Hope that people enjoy what I have to say or find it amusing and if not, this should prove to be a fun little project for the summer.
